   Local Storage: Dutch is designed as a "local-first" application. All data regarding receipts, expenses, and people you add to the App is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData technology. We do not maintain a central database of your financial records or personal contacts.
   No Account Required: You do not need to create an account or login to use Dutch. We do not collect your email address, phone number, or social media credentials.

   
   

3. Third-Party Services and AI Processing
   Google Gemini API: To provide automatic receipt scanning and item extraction, the App transmits receipt images you capture to Google's Gemini API (Generative AI).
   How it works: When you scan a receipt, the image is temporarily sent to Google's servers for analysis.
   Data Usage: Google processes the image to extract text (items, prices, dates) and returns this data to the App.
   Retention: We do not store these images on our own servers. Please refer to Google's Privacy Policy for information on how they handle data processed via their APIs.

   
   

4. Permissions
   To function correctly, the App requires access to the following features on your device:
   Camera: Used strictly to capture images of physical receipts for processing.
   Photo Library: Used to import existing images of receipts for processing.

   
   

5. Analytics and Diagnostics
   We may collect anonymous, aggregate data regarding app performance, crash reports, and usage patterns through standard Apple App Store analytics. This data allows us to improve the App and does not identify you personally.

   
   

6. Data Security
   We implement reasonable security measures to protect the integrity of your information locally on your device. However, strictly speaking, no security system is impenetrable, and we cannot guarantee the security of data stored on your specific device.

    Dutch is a utility tool designed to assist users in splitting bills and calculating shared expenses.
    Not Financial Advice: The App is for informational and convenience purposes only. It does not constitute financial, accounting, or legal advice.
    Calculation Accuracy: While we strive for accuracy, the App relies on Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology and AI processing, which may occasionally produce errors (e.g., misreading a price or quantity).
    User Responsibility: You are solely responsible for verifying all data, including scanned prices, totals, tax rates, and split calculations, before making any financial transactions.

    
    

11. Limitation of Liability (Important)
    To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:
    No Liability for Errors: The Developer and its affiliates shall NOT be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages resulting from the use or inability to use the App, including but not limited to financial losses, incorrect payments, or disputes between users.
    User Conduct: We are not responsible for the actions, debts, or disputes of any users. The App is a calculator; it does not process payments or enforce debts. Any financial transfers made based on the App's calculations are at your own risk.

    
    

12. Disclaimer of Warranties
    The App is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including, but not limited to, implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.     The App utilizes third-party services, specifically Google Gemini API, for image processing. We do not control and are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or content of these third-party services.
